The Garden Club attracts garden enthusiasts interested in volunteering, learning and sharing gardening knowledge…….

The Garden Club of Vancouver is for gardening enthusiasts who are interested in plants, gardening, volunteering, learning, and sharing their gardening and plant knowledge.

The Club meets the third Thursday of each month (except July and August) for meetings with special speakers and a light lunch.

The Club also plans special garden tours in May and June, Meals on Wheels (MOW) flower arranging, and special events

The Club supports community garden projects with volunteer labour and in some cases, funding

Since its inception in 1961, this volunteer non-profit organization has raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the beautification of green spaces around the city and beyond
The Garden Club attracts garden enthusiasts interested in volunteering, learning and sharing gardening knowledge.
Giving back to the community is part of the Club’s DNA. Since 1961 the Garden Club of Vancouver has been committed to supporting charitable projects throughout the city and beyond.
Club members also participate in on-going activities such as Meals on Wheels and garden volunteering throughout the year. For a full list please look on the Community page.
Since the 1970s, members have gathered three times a year at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter at St. Mary’s Church Hall to create up to 220 flower arrangements for Meals on Wheels clients.
Our field trips and garden tours are very popular and highly regarded. Visits include local private gardens; guided tour at Van Dusen Garden; Dr. Sun Yet Sen Garden; Darts Hill Garden Park; Abkhazi Garden; bird watching at Van Dusen Garden. Member sponsored tours included Iconic Gardens of England 2022, and upcoming Iconic Gardens of England, 2026.
Our Club’s enthusiastic volunteers help maintain many gardens in Vancouver. Ongoing initiatives include The Easter Seals House, The Vancouver Chinatown Foundation’s Bob and Michael’s Place Garden and The Vancouver Hospice.
This committee selects a theme, designs, and handcrafts decorations for the Christmas tree at Easter Seals House. The tree offers a warm, festive welcome to visitors and staff during what is often a very difficult time.
During the Meals on Wheels event, members create large floral arrangements, which are delivered by Club members to 12 non-profit hospice and care facilities across Metro Vancouver.
The Serendipity event includes the Christmas Meals on Wheels project, a special lunch, and a fundraiser featuring homemade jams, jellies, baked goods, a raffle, and occasionally a small auction.
To honour its 60th Anniversary, in 2021 the Garden Club of Vancouver began the Legacy Fund – a donor advised endowment fund with Vancity.
In 2024, The Legacy Fund made its first distribution to ‘Bob and Michael’s Place’ community garden, a Chinatown Community Living Project.
In 2025 we continued our support for Bob and Michael’s Place, and donated a new Greenhouse for the rooftop garden at Brock Fahrni Pavillion.
